The Border to Boston Trail is a 70-mile shared-use trail that links approximately 20 communities from the New Hampshire border to Boston for non-motorized uses including walking, bicycling, and more.
Developed with the imagination, energy, and coordination of advocates, elected officials, and governmental staff of all levels, the Border to Boston network of trails is one of the region’s most outstanding assets. The trail connects town and employment centers, neighborhoods, schools, parks, recreational facilities, and natural areas in the Essex National Heritage Area. When completed, it will facilitate safe, scenic, and healthy transportation and recreation for decades to come.
Essex Heritage thanks the partner organizations that have been instrumental in turning this idea into reality, including MassDOT, East Coast Greenway Alliance, Merrimack Valley Planning Commission, Metropolitan Area Planning Council, Coastal Trails Coalition, and the National Park Service.
